Cooking is a major aspect of Pixpet.net, as many items can only be obtained via cooking. There are three methods for cooking available at the Cooking Stations: refining, brewing and baking. Cooking stations can all be in use at the same time.
Items created from refining are used as ingredients for either brewing or baking, with the exception of powders which must be refined into salt blocks first. Refining recipes also includes stews, despite those requiring boiled water to be prepared in real life.
Items created via brewing will always result in Potions. Potions that use pumpkin products in their recipes will feature the colour of the product used; otherwise the potion will be neutral. Potions are used to either help Pixpets on their hoards, or as ingredients for evobars.
Items created from baking will always result in Evobars which can be used to evolve or devolve Pixpets. Both Evobars and Reverse Evobars require a certain grade to be usable on its corresponding pet.
Some ingredients have grades that will affect the grade of the item that is cooked. The grade of the cooked item is the average total grade of the ingredients. However, it is important to note that the calculation does not add up the grades within one ingredient slot (ex. four grade 100 Voxel Fruit will count as one grade 100 ingredient for when the potion grade is calculated). Likewise, two of the same ingredient with different grades cannot be added at the same time. For example, one grade 18 Pixeldust and one grade 25 Pixeldust will result in an error message if the player attempts to simultaneously add them to the station. If the player would like to have the two Pixeldust in their ingredients, their grades must first be averaged .
Ingredients for cooking can be obtained via:
- harvesting pumpkins or plants
- buying basic ingredients
- purchasing from or trading with other players
Types of Ingredients
Potions do not have an in-game type, but can be seen in the in-game filters. Majority of potion types are not used as ingredients in any recipes, with only the evolution based potions being the exception. All potions feature a grade.
Evobars do not have an in-game type, but can be seen in the in-game filters. As an ingredient, they are only involved in Reverse Evobars, with the exception of the Base Evobar. All evobars feature a grade.
Basic Ingredients are exclusively bought from the Cooking menu with PC. Basic ingredients do not feature a grade.
Potion Ingredients are ingredients that are used to make potions and evobars and are found while hoarding. All potion ingredients feature a grade.
Special Ingredients are a type of ingredient mostly found through hoarding. Majority of them are under 10% rarity, however those that are more common are usually required in much larger quantities to be useful in a recipe. Special ingredients do not feature a grade.
Plant Products are not considered as a type of ingredient in-game, but their ingredient family can be seen while using filters. They can be obtained by harvesting plants, and are in a separate category to pumpkin products. All plant products feature a grade.
Plant Seeds are a type of ingredient family only seen through in-game filters. Currently only a select few types of seeds are used in certain refining recipes. All plant seeds feature a grade.
Pumpkin Products are not considered as a type of ingredient in-game, but their ingredient family can be seen while using filters. They can be obtained by harvesting pumpkins at one of the three stages, and are in a separate category to plant products. All pumpkin products feature a grade.
How to Determine Cooking Times
The time it takes to cook depends on the method and the grade of ingredients. For example, baking takes the longest to complete, whilst refining takes the least amount of time.
The time required for each method can be found using the following:
- Refining = 60 + Total Grade Amount
- Brewing = 3600 + (Total Grade Amount * 60)
- Baking = 7200 + (Total Grade Amount * 10)
An Instant Cook Super Potion can be used to instantly refine, brew or bake.
There are different recipes for refining, brewing and baking; these can be found at the bottom of the respective cooking station. The order of ingredients will not affect the success of a recipe, however the exact items must be used otherwise you'll get a notice before proceeding. Once a successful recipe with an index has been completed once, it will be added to the Recipe Collection. Secret recipes such as Sugar Cubes will not be added when completed. Recipes here can also be selected for mass and autofill cooking.
